WAYNE’S WORDS OF WISDOM: TO FIND YOUR PATH, KNOW YOUR DIRECTION

A DAY IN ITS PLACE

THERE WAS A TIME AND PLACE

     WHERE GOOD THINGS RANG TRUE

WHERE THE SUN SHINNED BRIGHTLY

AND THE SKY WAS DARK BLUE

WHERE THE CHILDREN PLAYED HOPSCOTCH

     AND FROLICED AT SCHOOL

AND THE MEN BUILT HOUSES

     WITH BARE HANDS AND TOOLS

WHERE TEACHER TAUGHT CLASSES

     WITH PENCILS AND PAPER

AND CRIMES WHERE KNOWN

     AS AFTERNOON CAPERS

WHERE ACTORS SAUGHT ACTING

    NOT MONEY AND FAME

AND BRIDGE AND PINOCHLE

WAS THE NAME OF THE GAME

WHERE TOWNS WERE TOWNS

     AND CITIES WERE THAT

AND WOMEN WORE GLOVES

     AND MEN DONNED BRIMMED HATS

WHERE MEN DRESSED IN SUITS

     AND WOMEN IN THEIR DRESSES

WENT TO ICE CREAM SOCIALS,

    CHURCH AND CONFESSION

ON A PARTICULAR EVENING,

     WHEN ALL THINGS WERE RIGHT

I WAS INVITED TO DINNER

     ON A SATURDAY NIGHT

I STOOD AT ATTENTION,

A MERE BOY OF JUST EIGHT

HAPPY TO KNOW

    I WOULD NOT BE LATE

SO I COUNTED THE STARS

     AND DID ALL THE MATH

AS I WALKED BY THE FRUIT TREES

     THROUGH THE OLD GARDEDN PATH

STEPE BY STEP

     THE PATH SEEMED PERFECTLY PAVED

AND THE TREES SEEMED TO GREET ME

     WITH A COMICAL WAVE

SO I WINKED AT THE KUMQUATS

     THE ORANGE TREES AND PEARS

AND SMELLED THE ESSENCE OF ORANGE BLOSSOMS

AS THEY DANCED IN THE AIR

THE ANNUALS LAY BLOOMING

AS I PASSED BY THE HOUSE

AS REVERENCE TO MY HOST

     I CREPT LIKE A MOUSE

HER HOME WAS IMMACULATE

    EVERYTHING IN ITS PLACE

AND SHE GREETED ME WITH HONOR

IN HER DRESS MADE OF LACE

WE DINNED AT A TABLE

     BEFITTING A KING

FINE CHINA, PURE SILVER

AND THE NAPKINS IN A RING

THE FEAST SHE PREPARED

    HAD HER DELICATE TOUCH

AND AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT,

     I ATE MUCH TO MUCH

AFTER COFFEE AND SMALL TALK

WE PLAYED CARDS THROUGH THE NIGHT

AND I FOUND MY SElF LOOKING

AT THE MOTHS AT THE LIGHT

I, LIKE THE MOTHS

    FELT LIFE FLUTTERING AWAY

AND KNEW THAT IN HOURS

IT WOULD BE THE NEXT DAY

MY EYES FINALLY SHUT

     AND THE EVENING WAS DONE

AND THE NEXT THING I KNEW

WAS THE RISE OF THE SUN

I AROSE FROM MY SLUMBERS

AND MET MY DOG AT THE DOOR

AND DECIDED IT WAS TIME

    TO CARRY OUT MY CHORES

WAYNE’S WORDS OF WISDOM: WHEN YOU’RE FINISHED WITH WHAT YOU’VE DONE, BESURE IT WAS WORTH IT

IT’S ALL UP TO ME

I WALKED AND I WALKED

     THROUGH THE DEAD OF NIGHT

EACH INCH, EACH STEP

     TOOK ALL MY MIGHT

I CREPT THROUGH THE DARKNESS

     MY COURAGE AT A TEST

FRIGHTENED AND BEWILDERED

     I DARED NOT REST

MY HEART FELT LIKE DRUMS

     AND POUNDED TO A BEAT

MY NERVES SENDING SIGNALS

     TO MY EVER QUIVERING FEET

I KEPT LOOKING FOR DOORS

     BUT I COULDN’T FIND A KEY

I FELT TESTED, I FELT NUMB

I FELT WEAK IN THE KNEES

OH WHERE, OH WHERE

WAS THE LIGHT OF THE SUN

I SAW A GLIMMER IN THE DISTANCE

     AND STARTED TO RUN

FROM THE HEAVENS ABOVE

     AN ANGLE APPEARED

WITH THUNDER AND LIGHTENING

     I HAD PLENTY TO FEAR

I GATHERED WHAT STRENGTH

     STILL LEFT IN MY BEING

AND LOOKED TO THE SKY

     AND STARTED TO SING

I SAW NESTLED YOUNG BIRDS

     APPEAR FROM A TREE

THEY FLEW AND FLUTTERED

     AND SANG HARMONIES WITH ME

A SYMPHONY OF WIND

     BROUGHT A CHORUS OF TUNES

A MELODY OF SPRING

     BEFITTINGLY FOR JUNE

BUT NATURE, WILL SPRING TO LIFE

     AND FLOWERS WILL BLOOM

NEVER AGAIN, WILL I ALLOW

     DARKNESS TO LOOM

CAUSE I ONCE STOOD STOIC

    PETRIFIED LIKE STONE

AND SAW THE DOWN TRODDENED

     WITHER TO THE BONE

BUT THE WORLD KEEPS TURNING

     AND DARK TURNS TO LIGHT

AND IT’S ALL UP TO ME

     TO STAND UP AND FIGHT

WAYNE’S WORDS OF WISDOM: TO SUCCEED WIHTOUT BOUNDS, WILL WIN YOU NO PRIZE

I WANDERED

I wandered quietly below

     A hill of green

The dale before me

     Was mine to be seen

My adventurous trek

     Laid hither by trees

Oaks and honeysuckles

     And workman like bees

I dispensed of my duties

And the chores of my yoke

And found myself lying

     Beneath the mightiest of oak

Lying by its roots

    I saw a hummingbird flutter

A woodpecker peck

And the sound, of a locus fly mutter

I saw the swaying of barley grass

    In the meadow below

And the till of the soil

     By the old farmer’s how

The clouds seem to sail

     On an ocean of sky

While the sun tried to hide

As if it was quit shy

Spring showers come early

     Brings tears to the earth

A gift from a god

     That brought us our birth

WAYNES WORDS OF WISDOM: TO DESIRE IS MORE DESIRABLE THEN THAT, WHICH IS DESIRED

I’M WILLING TO BE SHOWN

LIKE A BOWL FULL OF AIR

     MY MIND WAS A BLANK

AND THE LONGER I SAT

     THE FURTHER I SANK

I’VE LIVED MY YEARS

     IN A HALF EMPTY JAR

I’VE SAT IN THE CORNERS

     OF BROKENED DOWN BARS

I’VE THOUGHT LONG AND HARD

TILL I’M TIRED TO THE BONES

I’VE STROLLED ALONG BEACHES

     ON SAND AND POLISHED STONES

I’VE WALKED THE PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

     AND DESIRED TO SIN

I’VE WATCHED CANDLES BURNING

     AND WONDERED WHERE I’VE BEEN

STEP BY STEP

     I FALL DEEP INTO SNOW

WHERE I WAS, WHO I WAS

      I DON’T EVEN KNOW

I CASCADE DOWN HILLSIDES

      LOST IN MY DREAD

WONDERING WHEN I WAKE UP

WILL I BE ALIVE OR DEAD

I’VE DIRECTED MY CONSCIENCE

     AND PONDERED THE THOUGHT

CAN DREAMS OF THE MIND

     EVER BE BOUGHT

I’VE WORKED FOR POSSESIONS

       WITH LITTLE TO SHOW

TILLED, THE SODS OF LIFE

WITH MY HAND AND A HOE

I’VE KEPT MY HEAD DOWN

     AS I COUNTED MY STEPTS

AND ASKED MY EYES

      WHY THEY NEVER HAVE WEPT

I’VE COME TO BELIEVE

     THAT I’M CURSED FROM ABOVE

NEVER ALLOWING MYSELF

     TO EVER BY LOVED

BUT I’M HERE LIVING NOW,

AT KNOW FAULT OF MY OWN

BUT I’M WILLING TO LEARN

     WHICH CAN NOT BE SHOWN

WAYNE’S WORDS

WAYNES WORDS OF WISDOM

IT  TAKES A MAN OF WISDOM TO RECOGNIZE MEN OF WISDOM

IT IS THE TIME OF DAY

IT IS THE TIME OF DAY

     WHEN THE COLORS ARE BLUE

WHEN THE SHADOWS ARE DANCING

     AND THE GRASS COLLECTS DEW

I WAS DRAWN TO A RIVER

     WHERE IT TRICKLES AND FLOWS

WHERE THE ULTERENCE OF SOUNDS

     CARRIED ALL OF MY WOES

I BECKONED TO A WILLOW

AS I LAID DOWN MY HEAD

AND THE DEADENING LEAVES

     BECAME A WELCOMING BED

THERE’S A DEAFONING SILENCE

     BETWEEN MORNING AND NIGHT

AND A CHILL OF A BREEZE

     BY THE PALE MOONLIGHT

SO I GATHER MYSELF

     AND TAKE A LINGERING STROLL

AND FIND THE GIFTS OF THE EARTH

     BRINGS PEACE TO MY SOUL

TIME IS NOT LOST

     BY THE DISCOVERIES I FIND

THERE’S MUCH MORE IN ME

THAN THE THOUGHTS IN MY MIND

STILL, THIS RIVER WILL FLOW

     I KNOW NOT WHERE

BUT THE BEAUTY IT BRINGS

     JUST BEGS ME TO STARE

Wayne’s World

WHERE THE OCEAN RUNS DEEP

WHERE THE OCEAN MEETS THE SHORE, AND THE VIEW IS FREE

IS A QUAINT LITTLE TOWN, A VILLAGE BY THE SEA

THE REASONS OF WHY, ARE IRRELEVANT TO ME

BUT I’M DRAWN TO THIS VILLAGE, THIS VILLAGE BY THE SEA

SO I TAKE A MEANDERING PATH, TO THE FOAMY WHITE WAVES

AND I SIT IN A COVE, BY THE MOUTH OF A CAVE

I PONDER THE WHYS AND THE WHATS, THAT THIS LIFE HAS IN STORE

AND DO THIS SOUL SEARCHING, BY THE BLUE OCEAN SHORE

WITH NO ROAD TO TRAVEL, AND NO TURNS LEFT TO MAKE

THERE’S NOTHING LEFT FOR ME, NO FROSTING ON THE CAKE

SO THE WAVES ROLL IN, AND THE WAVES ROLL OUT

AND THERE’S NO ONE TO HEAR, MY THUNDEROUS SHOUTS

SO I SIT BY THE WATERS, THESE WATERS BY THE SHORE

AND ENTER A WORLD, WHERE THERE AREN’T ANY DOORS

SO I SAY GOOD BYE, TO THE SUN AND THE BREEZE

THE PEBBLES, THE SAND, AND A DEADEND OLD LEAF

WITHOUT AN UTTERANCE OF SOUND, I SLOWLY SLUMBER TO SLEEP

IN THE DEPTS OF THE OCEAN, WHERE THE OCEAN RUNS DEEP
